Mission Complete

Chapter X and Chapter Y

CHAPTER X

Near dawn, Heather sat bolt up in her bunk, banging her head on the low ceiling. The bottom of the two bunks was used to keep the few possessions she had on her when she was captured. An extra uniform and pair of boots were lined up neatly along the side with the necessary toiletries placed neatly in a built in box on the end of the bottom bunk. Artificial sun light streamed through the bars of her cell, giving just enough light to see throughout the room. She touched her head gingerly, dismissing what she mistook for a noise as just a vivid dream.

“Great, stuck in a cell with no curtains, in a zone where they don’t raise the temperature past 60, with people where even a jacket does nothing to help the frigidity. Just my luck.” She sighed and flopped back into her pillow, trying to bury the loneliness of her stale gray room. The crunch of gravel came to her ears again, and she perked up slightly, wondering who was walking past her window.

“Maybe your luck is about to change, beautiful.” A voice from outside her window brought her back to motion. She pushed her feet to the floor with a thud and rushed to the window.

“Josh, is that you? Oh, Kami-Sami, please tell me it’s you and you’re here to bust me out.” Heather pressed her face to the bars and reached out to Joshua. She left no thought to the guards that were supposed to be stationed outside her door, but her voice was shallow anyway.

“Yea, it’s me babe. Spencer and I are here to get you out, but it’s gonna take a couple of days, so you’re gonna have to be patient and play stupid for a while, okay? I’ll try to come see you tomorrow and let you know what’s going on.” Josh finished with a kiss, first on Heather’s forehead and then on her lips. Spencer cleared his throat and Heather and Josh pulled back reluctantly.

“Okay, but please hurry. I don’t know what D’Morte has planned, but I don’t think I’m going to like it.” Heather pulled her arms in the cell and noticed Josh’s FECA uniform. The gray and maroon fabric was loose in places and looked stolen. She twisted her lips in disgust and the boys smirked. “Fed uniforms? They don’t even fit. They’re so . . . so . . . minikui.” Heather scrunched up nose and sighed. “Well, if you must, you must, but please hurry.” She leaned forward and kissed Josh again, then quick as they were there, they were gone again. Heather sat on the one metal chair in the near-empty room and stared unseeing at her wash basin. Private cells were only good to keep noisy neighbors away. Two or three days . . . she could handle that, couldn’t she? Heather wasn’t exactly sure if she could trust Kali, but there was something strange about the way that girl was acting.

CHAPTER Y

Two days quickly turned into two weeks as Heather waited for Josh’s signal that she would be getting out soon. Brief marches from D’Morte’s office, where he attempted to seduce her, to her cell had become a common place, the same guard showing her little signs of affection, but never revealing his face. Rue insisted on continuing his charade where she would fall in love with him, but Heather drew on all she had learned about turning herself into an ice princess and not even the champagne she was forced to drink helped thaw her palace. Most of the time, she waited until he wasn’t paying attention and fed it to the one plant in the room, and once, she had even hid the liquid in the sofa cushions when he insisted on her ‘relaxing.’ She looked forward to the carefully executed walks to the empty exercise yard for the few minutes she would be able to spend in artificial sunlight, even if it did nothing to dispel the cold she felt inside. It was in on one of these routine walks that she first saw her. Just a glimpse of a blonde ponytail, nothing more, but enough to confirm that she hadn’t been imagining things when she thought she heard Cordelia’s voice asking about her cell block two days before. Two days since then? That made over two weeks since Josh had told her he would be back soon. But, if Cordelia was here, where were Joshua and Spencer? Levi and Drake wouldn’t return to this Federation base unless there was an emergency, so Joshua and Spencer were her only link to the outside world until the final showdown. They weren’t recognizable to D’Morte as Commander Renata and Pilot Pearson were. He had only heard Joshua’s voice and hadn’t seen his face; that was a major plus in their favor. She watched the girl in the Federation uniform for as long as she could before being pulled away by her personal guards. Heather pursed her lips in thought. She would wait two more days and then find a way out on her own. The guard that had first been affectionate to her continued to rub his thumb along the inside of her arm, and once while the other guard had been rambling about something, venturing to run his fingers over her ass, clad in only thin, tight uniform breeches. Heather didn’t understand why this guard’s touch didn’t repel her like the other guard’s did, and he had never even attempted to do more than yank her around by the bicep.

“Two more days,” she sighed into her cold cell. She heard the guards exchange a few muffled words as the cell door began to close behind her, and then one pair of feet distinctly marched off. She knew that there were no cameras in the cells, so if one guard allowed the other to leave, neither would be caught. Heather started to go to her bunk for a nap when her arm was grabbed from behind. Without turning, she knew which guard now stood behind her, it was the darker guard who persisted in rubbing the inside of her arm when ever he got the chance, and she waited to see if he would move further into the room. Visions of past visits to this particular base flashed through her mind. With a lesser guard like this, it would not happen again. She knew it would do no good to yell, so reflexively she went for his nose with her other fist. To her surprise, her hand was caught in midair, in the tight grip of the darker skinned guard. For the first time since she had met him, his hat was tipped up and she could see that the color of his face and the color of his hands were slightly different. She wondered why she hadn’t noticed the subtle difference before when she had found herself studying the guard. She had always forced herself to turn away, but her eyes and senses would draw her back to the muscular body of the prison guard. Large hazel eyes now smiled up at her and her own violet eyes widened as she recognized them before she was pulled into a deep kiss. Her mouth opened of its own accord and he swept his tongue through her mouth, his arm encircling her and pulling her tightly against his hardening cock.

“Good to see you too, Lieutenant.” Josh smiled as he released her fist. “I’m glad that you haven’t changed your first attack, or I would probably be hurting about now.” Heather leaned against him and savored his warmth. How long had he been her guard and she hadn’t thought to look at his face? “We don’t have much time, love, or you would be naked on that bed underneath me, where I can savor you. Soon, we can go home and I’ll show you how a real lady should be treated. I know I’ve taken forever to tell you anything, but it’s taken Spencer longer than we thought to infiltrate the ranks. I’m surprised that you haven’t tried to hit me before now.” He rubbed her arm in the same manner that he had for weeks, soothing his nerves as well as hers.

“Was that. . .” Heather waved in the general direction of the yard.

“Yes, that was Cordelia. Kali had her called up as a computer expert. D’Morte thinks her name is Jessie and that she’s from the Blue Cove Base recruits. She’s been working to ‘revamp’ their computer systems.”

“Sabotage.”

Josh nodded. He knew Heather would understand Cordelia’s mission more than anything else they were trying to accomplish. Two weeks had put Josh into the main guardhouse where he could keep track of all the time schedules of all the guards on the base. He knew shift changes and which guards would be the easiest to over power on their way out. "Final missions are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll slip you yours as soon as I can get rid of the moron that Kali set up to work with me."

"Kali?" Heather wrinked her forehead. "That explains why she's acting so strangely."

"Kali set me up to keep an eye on you. It's also easier to slip you messages if I can get in the cell without going through anyone else. She's on our side, and ready to destroy this base. I think she believes she can melt the Ice King." Josh smiled. "I wish her the best of luck if it gets me out of this uniform and back into space." Heather smiled and laid her head back on Josh's chest. A door slammed down the corridor, echoing an alert for Josh. "Sleep well, love." Josh turned and left the cell, locking it behind him. They knew that he could just leave it open and let her escape, but if she escaped ahead of time, D'Morte would go looking for her and ruin all their carefully laid plans.
